April 2015 eNews - Training Family Members of Children
Dear Power of Love friend,
In our last newsletter, we shared the exciting news that Power of Love grew by adding 50 HIV+ children to our pediatric HIV care program. Every child in the program receives a comprehensive package of care that includes food, medicines and health care services until they turn 18 years of age.
We're proud of the impact that this package of care has had on our children, and we are dreaming even bigger. Our goal is to strengthen the community by providing family members with the right tools to take care of their sick children and family members at home. Family members undergo a week long training session where they learn to care for an for an HIV+ child.
The training equips family members with basic nursing and psychosocial counseling skills so that the child is under the care of a trained caregiver 24/7. Over the next few months, we expect the effects of the training to trickle down to the community as individuals become better educated about HIV prevention and care.
Thank you for supporting this program. At Power of Love, every dollar counts and helps us care for HIV+ children in Zambia. And, as always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.
With thanks for all that you do,
Your friends at the Power of Love Foundation
