March 2015 eNews - Adding 50 HIV+ Children

Dear Power of Love Friend,

As a result of your generosity and compassion, we will be adding 50 HIV positive children to our pediatric HIV-care program this month.

We have shared this news with the families of the children being added to the program, and they are thrilled to know that their children will be receiving food, medicine, and a package of lifesaving healthcare services until they turn 18 years old. In addition, their caregivers, most of whom are single moms or grandmothers caring for multiple orphans, will undergo a five day training in caring (link is external)for an HIV+ child.

Power of Love's HIV-care program now has 250 children who receive food, medicines, weekly health visits from a community health worker/Nurse, psycho-social counseling, education in HIV prevention, and adherence monitoring and training for older children. Given the success of current children in the program, we are optimistic that the new children will stabilize in health so that they can attend school with fewer missed days due to ill-health.

Thank you for making a difference. At Power of Love, every dollar counts and helps us care for HIV+ children in Zambia. And, as always, 100% of your donations(link is external) go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.
