Shannon Fontius

Shannon was working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in San Diego, a refugee resettlement agency that assists newly arrived refugees to integrate and navigate the American system during their first year in the United States. As a volunteer with the Power of Love Foundation in the Summer & Fall of 2011, she was working with POL's Social Media Team to help design and implement a social media strategy, and build and maintain relationships with funders for our programs.
At the IRC, Shannon’s role as Health Navigator is to support refugees with significant medical conditions to access the appropriate care and resources in the community, as well as, to coordinate transportation and interpretation services.
Shannon graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in International Politics and a minor in Spanish Literature She is interested in the fields of psycho-social health and health education and hopes to pursue a MSW/MPH in the near future.
