October 2026 - Building Healthy Communities By Providing Clean Water

Greetings! Happy October!

Clean water is one of the Sustainable development goals listed by the UN established by the United Nations, yet millions of families living in underserved communities around the world still lack reliable access to safe water. With your support and the support of Rotary clubs in San Diego, California, and Lusaka, Zambia, Power of Love has made access to clean water an integral part of our comprehensive healthcare program. Last July, 175 families living in low-income communities in Lusaka received Safe Water Filtration Systems (SWFS), along with training in their use and maintenance. Together with the 760 families who received filters last year, more than 900 families - over 6,000 adults and children - now have clean water in their homes around the clock.

We have been tracking the impact of this program, and the results are significant. Families using the Safe Water Filtration Systems have experienced fewer waterborne illnesses, resulting in fewer missed days of school and work. There is an important economic benefit as well: because families no longer need to boil untreated water, they save money on charcoal and other cooking fuels. Something as basic as clean water can change much more than health: children miss fewer days of school, parents miss fewer days of work, families save money, and stronger households create opportunities for the next generation.

Your support makes this possible. And, as always, every dollar you donate goes directly to our programs and none of it is used for overhead costs.

Thank you for being part of this work.
