August 2021 - Meet Our Heroes

Dear Friend: Greetings! Hope you are having a wonderful summer! As you know, the ongoing pandemic has made life more difficult for vulnerable communities globally. More families face food insecurity due to the impact of COVID and other factors such as climate change and conflict. For the last 18 months our goal has been keeping families in our pediatric HIV care program educated on COVID prevention and health, and ensuring that children continue school. Each child is special, brings us unlimited joy and inspires us every day. They are our heroes. Given below are stories of two such children.

Brad (name changed) is a 16-year-old who lives with his parents, and three siblings. His father lost his part time job during COVID and his mom owns a tiny bread stand. Brad fell sick when he was three and joined us two years later. After enrollment, his health improved significantly and he has no complaints now. He is a sixth grader who loves school.

Jill (name changed) is a 15-year-old who lives with her widowed mom. Her mom and 11 others, live in a home with no electricity or water. Jill fell sick when she was two years old and soon after she joined our pediatric HIV care program and her mom enrolled in our micro loans program. Her mom used loan funds to start a fruit stand that helps bring in an income. Post enrollment, Jill health improved steadily, and she is enjoying being a sixth grader.

All 500 children enrolled receive food, medicines, and a comprehensive package of life saving health care services. Their families receive education in HIV and COVID, ongoing support, environmentally friendly cooking stoves, and insecticide treated bed nets. Please donate generously so we can continue to improve the quality of life of HIV+ orphans and vulnerable children. Every dollar counts. And, as always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.

Your friends at the Power of Love Foundation
