Power of Love’s “Safe Park” program provides a safe and fun environment for children living in slum neighborhoods to play, learn, and interact with peers. More than 700 children are enrolled. They enjoy playing Zambian games and learning through workshops led by older children and health educators. Last fall, we started teaching computer skills to children by launching the very first computer lab in Matero, one of the largest and poorest slums in Lusaka, Zambia. The lab provides educational classes after school hours. There is a high demand for this lab as there is a long waitlist for classes. The children are becoming more computer literate as they learn to navigate various software applications, with some children beginning to teach others. This lab has become a community asset and community members are loving it. 

Establishing this computer lab in the community has long been a dream, and we are thrilled that it is a reality. We are currently raising funds for the computer lab (hardware, software, furniture, an uninterrupted power supply, a printer, ongoing operating expenses) and other ongoing programs.
