Here’s another inspiring story of positive impact and strong community resilience.

Zambia has faced significant cholera outbreaks in recent years, driven by prolonged droughts and unexpected rains since January. The impacts of climate change show up not just in weather, but in the health of people in vulnerable communities. This year, Matero - one of the slum neighborhoods we serve - was designated as the epicenter of the outbreak by the Zambian government.

Thanks to your unwavering support and the lessons we’ve learned from past years, we were able to respond swiftly. We provided essential supplies including chlorine to treat drinking water and hand sanitizers to 1,000 families, along with ongoing education on cholera prevention and close follow-up. The result? Not a single cholera case was reported among the 1,000+ beneficiary families we worked with!

Our efforts to prevent cholera are ongoing, but the ultimate solution is access to clean water for every family. This month we are delivering Safe Water Filtration Systems and training on their use to more than 700 families. Stay tuned for updates on this important project.
