Dear Power of Love Friend: Happy new year! Here is a piece of wonderful news to kick start 2017. In sub-Saharan Africa, new HIV infections, and the spread of HIV is at its lowest level to date. 

According to a study funded by PEPFAR (Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), extraordinary progress has been made against the fight against HIV in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi. As of 2016, new HIV infections were at their lowest level, the number of people living with HIV has stabilized, and more than 50% of people living with HIV are poor transmitters of the virus. These findings are heartwarming and a clear sign that new HIV infections can be eliminated in Sub-Saharan Africa - the epicenter of the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
