April 2022 - 2022 is off to a great start

Dear Power of Love Friend: Happy April! In Zambia, malaria season runs from October to May. In the first three months of 2022, 10,000 long lasting insecticide treated nets and education were provided in four rural and five urban areas. Regular use of these nets, will keep 35,000 children or 20,000 adults malaria free as each net can sleep up to four young children or two adults.

The need for nets continues to be huge as transmission rates for malaria are high across most of Zambia, government clinics do not provide nets, and most people cannot afford to purchase nets for their families. In rural areas, the problem is compounded due to stagnant water especially in villages located close to rivers, and lack of accessibility of government clinics that could be 25-30 miles from villages. Sleeping under a mosquito bed net regularly during malaria season prevents malaria reducing the need for clinic visits.

For 2022, our goal is to provide 20,000 long lasting insecticide treated nets and education benefitting 70,000 children or 40,000 adults. Our vision is for Zambia to be malaria free in the next 2-3 years. Help make this a reality with your generous donations. Every dollar counts. And, as always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.

Your friends at the Power of Love Foundation
