February 2024 - Clean Water Saves Lives

Dear friend: Hope you are doing well. For the past three months, Zambia has been going through a cholera outbreak. Reopening of schools after winter break has been postponed two times since early January. Since last October, there have been more than 8,000 recorded cases of cholera and more than 500 deaths with a case fatality of 4% which is four times the WHO threshold. The government has launched an aggressive campaign deploying oral vaccines to curb the spread of cholera.

Lack of access to clean water leaves many Zambians vulnerable as cholera spreads through contaminated water and food. At this time we are providing water purification agents, such as chlorine, and medicines. However, the solution to this problem is access to clean water. Last year we had provided Safe Water Filtration systems and training to families. This year, we are raising funds to provide an additional 1000 Safe Water Filtration systems to families who lack access to clean water.

You can save lives by keeping children and families safe from cholera. Please donate generously. Every dollar counts. And, as always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.
