May 2025 - Good news on the Malaria Vaccine Front

Dear Power of Love Friend: Happy May!

Last month, the R21 malaria vaccine was rolled out in Uganda, with multilateral support from GAVI (the Global Vaccine Alliance), UNICEF, the World Health Organization, PATH (Program for Appropriate Technology in Health) and CHAI (Clinton HIV and AIDS initiative). This makes Uganda the 19th country in Africa to introduce the malaria vaccine into routine immunization and it is the largest vaccine rollout to date in terms of target districts and population. An additional 6-8 countries will roll out the vaccine this year. If the vaccine is administered as planned, thousands of children will stay malaria free and improved health will ease the financial burden on families.

Malaria continues to be a significant health threat, especially in countries like Zambia, which have been impacted by climate change, and poor access to clean water in slum neighborhoods.

This year our goal is the provision of 15,000 long-lasting insecticide treated nets and education to benefit 55,000 children or 30,000 adults. Donate generously as every dollar goes towards malaria prevention and saves lives. And, as always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overhead expenses.

We look forward to another year of keeping families safe from malaria and in good health.
