October 2022 - The New Malaria Vaccine Will Save Millions of Lives

Dear friend: Happy October! We have awesome news in the area of malaria prevention. A malaria vaccine developed by Britain's University of Oxford is 80% effective in preventing infection. The new vaccine, called R21/Matrix-M, has the potential to save millions of lives especially of young children, and eventually eradicate malaria. In 2020, malaria claimed the lives of 627,000 adults of which 481,000 were children under five years of age; 100% of these precious lives could have been saved. The vaccine is awaiting approval by the WHO. Post-approval the Serum Institute of India will manufacture millions of doses at just a few dollars per dose.

Once the vaccine is available it can be distributed widely to children and adults most vulnerable to malaria. Our dream is for malaria to be as easily preventable as the flu. Help make this a reality with your generous donations. Every dollar counts. And, as always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.
