Dear Friend: Happy October! Malaria, a preventable and curable disease, kills more than 400,000 people each year with Sub-Saharan Africa accounting for 90% of malaria cases and deaths. In 2020, malaria prevention programs in several countries were hampered due to pandemic restrictions.
Zambia is among the 20 countries with the highest malaria incidence and mortality globally. Most families living in resource poor neighborhoods, are vulnerable to malaria but do not have the information on how to prevent malaria or the resources to purchase mosquito bed nets.
Dear Power of Love Friend: Happy March! In Zambia, transmission rates for malaria are high throughout the country. To keep vulnerable families malaria free, 3,000 insecticide treated nets were provided in rural and urban areas in Zambia. Nets provision was preceded by a demonstration and education session, and all activities were completed in a safe manner.
