Is malaria a problem? In 2022, malaria claimed 608,000 lives globally (6% higher than pre-COVID), with Sub-Saharan Africa accounting for 94% of malaria cases and deaths. Zambia, one of 20 countries with the highest malaria incidence and mortality, has a high prevalence of malaria co-infection with HIV and TB.

Our Response to the Cholera Outbreak in Zambia
A quick positive update. Zambia has been going through a cholera outbreak since last October. With more than 19,000 cases, 600 deaths, and a case fatality rate of 3.5% this is the worst cholera outbreak since 2017. The government has launched an aggressive campaign deploying oral vaccines to curb the spread of cholera.

Power of Love's micro loans program provides training in entrepreneurial skills, multiple loans, and ongoing support to women in Zambia. In addition to training and loans, program activities focus on the provision of information on how to open a bank account, save regularly, build assets, and teach financial literacy.
